David Morton, Director of Music and Worship

David Morton grew up the youngest of four sons in a very musical family on a farm near Huntington; Indiana.  He began singing in church at an early age and continues to sing and direct church and community choirs of all ages. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Huntington University and a Master of Music in Conducting from Butler University. In addition, he also holds an Education Specialist Degree from Ball State University.

Before moving to Indianapolis in 2005, David taught high school choral music and was an assistant principal in several public schools in Indiana.  Currently; he is employed as Department Chair for the Performing Arts at Lawrence North High School in the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township. In addition, he has also served as Minister of Music at Broadway United Methodist Church, in Indianapolis, Director of Music for St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, in Carmel, and Music and Worship Leader for the Sunrise United Methodist Church in the Geist area.

David is new to Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church and is looking forward to being involved with the members of the church community in an influential capacity.  He directs the Chancel Choir, Adult Bell Choir, and Chimes, and he sings in each service.

While using music as his principal tool, he tries to unveil God’s relevance to all. David’s ultimate goal is for all to have an intimate, personal relationship with God, and it his hope that this will serve as a reflection of the music ministry for Mount Comfort United Methodist Church.
